Many of the consulates in Cancun are satellite offices usually working with a skeleton staff. They can provide information with visas, passports, travel warnings and offer help if you have a medical emergency or have trouble with the law. The consulates will not make hotel, plane, car or tour reservations nor do they handle complaints in these areas. Canadians or Americans with more complicated immigration problems may need to contact the offices in Mexico City or in Mérida.
