Official
holidays fall into three categories: Catholic religious holidays,
national holidays celebrating historical events and civic holidays
honoring a particular town or village. Of course, in Mexico there
are also those fiestas held just to celebrate nothing in particular.
Almost all celebrations have plenty of food, drink and music. Attending
any one of these events is a nice introduction to the culture. Book
your hotel well in advance for more popular holidays such as Semana
Santa (Easter Week) or for famous events such as the spring equinox
at Chichen-Itza. |
